MARS TLO Modules: The Safe Solution for Truck Loading
MSI is the leader in Modular Aircraft Refueling System design for both truck loading and direct-to-plane refueling. The MARS TLO (Truck Loading) Module features a Stainless Steel Horizontal Relaxation Tank designed to dissipate the static charge acquired by fuel during filtration. Fuel relaxation is required by NFPA 407 and API RP2003. Military grades of jet fuel, such as JP-8, which have been doped wth SDA (Static Dissipating Agent) generally do not require relaxation.
The MARS TLO Module also features a manual deadman control with both electric and hydraulic deadman options. API 1529 Aircraft Loading Hose and Single Point Nozzle with 60 mesh strainer are standard TLO module components. An optional fusible link valve upstream of the loading hose is available where compliance with FAA AC-150/5230 is required.

Around the World in Forty Days
MSI's deep expertise in military fueling system design and fabrication was recently put to the test by an emergency requirement for a Duplex Jet Fuel Pumping System for U.S. Army forces based in Iraq.
In less than forty days, MSI designed, fabricated, tested and shipped a custom-engineered fueling system complete with (2) Gorman Rupp Self-Priming Centrifugal Pumps with 380V/3/50 hz. explosion-proof motors, strainers, meter, valves and explosion-proof control panel. All components were mounted on a structural steel perimeter box frame skid. Upon completion, the entire skid was air freighted to Iraq.

Fuel Storage Tip
Fueling professionals know that fuel quality is the most important objective of proper aviation fuel system design. Fuel quality begins with the procedures implemented for the receipt and issue of fuel. If possible, there should be two (2) fuel storage tanks; one for receipt and one for issues. Fuel that is received into storage should be allowed to settle for at least one hour per foot of fuel delivered. In other words, if the equivalent of 8 feet of product is delivered into storage, no product should be withdrawn from that tank for at least 8 hours.

Anchors Away with MSI
MSI recently delivered the first of what is expected to be multiple units of its Triton Shipboard Helicopter Refueling System for the U.S. Navy's new X-Craft. This high speed (50 knots plus) catamaran Stealth vessel is designed to provide close support for U.S. special forces with twin helicopter landing pads on deck. Each Triton fueling system consists of heavily modified duplex PFT and RDS Modules. All modules feature stainless steel valves and piping as well as advanced control system architecture.
